California Online Traffic School Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can I complete online traffic school?

Completion times vary depending on reading comprehension and your ability to answer multiple choice questions. We cannot provide you with a definitive answer to the actual course time. All online traffic schools are regulated by the courts and have a similar amount of reading material. You may be able to complete in a short time. However, you are not required to complete the course in one sitting - you may log on and off as many times as you would like. Complete the course in one short session or take as many days as you need.

How much will the traffic school course cost?

SaveTimeTrafficSchool.com guarantees our price to be lower than any competitor. For regular certificate delivery the total cost is currently $15.95. Some courts require an identity verification process - we offer online identity verification for an additional charge - or you may use a notary (also an extra charge unless you have access to a free notary service). Expedited delivery will cost extra in courts where we must mail you a certificate - but is not required. If you find a lower price please notify us and we will beat that price - guaranteed.

What is ID Verification and where/why is it required?

In certain counties ID Verification is required by the court to ensure that the student taking traffic school online is indeed the student who received a citation. We offer online identity verification in all counties where identity verification is required as well as an alternative of a Notary.
Online Identity Verification requires the student to answer 4 multiple choice questions specific to the student. It's that easy. Online ID verification is only available to those students who have established credit. The ID verification is not a credit check but does use available credit information to establish identity.
If you choose a notary, the notary will verify that you are the person taking the test and will notarize the notary area of the printed test. You will then complete the test and either fax or mail the answer sheet and notary page to our office. If you choose the notary option - you may bring whatever materials you wish to take your final exam.
Note: Any county requiring ID Verification will be clearly indicated during the registration process. Any identity verification option will normally require an additional charge.

Does the court consider this traffic school course equivalent to a walk-in traffic school?

Yes, home-study courses are recognized as an equivalent alternative to the traditional walk-in traffic schools.

Is any classroom attendance required?

No. Your classroom is in the comfort of your own home, office, bedroom, park bench or anywhere you have access to the internet.

Is there an additional charge for the certificate?

No, the certificate is included in your course fee.

Is your site secure?

As shown by the graphic above, SaveTimeTrafficSchool.com utilizes an EV (Extended Validation) SSL Certificate. Obtaining an EV SSL certificate is a much more demanding process than any other type of SSL certificate and is indicated by the green tone when you are in a secure area of our site.

This means that communication between your browser and our web site is encrypted and that the certification authority has confirmed the web site is owned or operated by a business that is legally organized under the jurisdiction shown in the certificate and on the Security Status bar.

Other types of certificates do not require confirmation of ownership and are easily obtainable without any type of confirmation.

Am I required to complete the traffic school course in one sitting?

No, you may log on and off at any time. You may decide to complete the course all at once or you could complete one section, log off and then complete additional sections at a later time. You may also re-examine the sections you have already completed at any time - and you may print the study material if it's easier for you to read information off screen.

How do I know if I qualify for home-study?

Each court determines the criteria for home-study programs. Check the information you received from your court, or contact the court, to verify your eligibility.

Should I select the county where I live?

No - you need to select the county in which you received your citation. Your citation will indicate the county/court information for the jurisdiction where you were cited. Check the information you received from your court, or contact the court if you have any questions.

How soon should I sign up for traffic school?

SaveTimeTrafficSchool.com is obviously more convenient than a walk-in traffic school course that requires a strict classroom schedule. However, you should sign up as soon as possible so that you may complete the course in plenty of time to allow for your Certificate of Completion to be sent to you or your Court and recorded by your due date.

Do I have to wait for my payment to clear before I start?

No, you may start the course and then send your payment. However, you will not gain access to the final exam until we have received your payment.

Does SaveTimeTrafficSchool.com have a physical office?

Yes. We encourage you to visit us at:
4900 California Avenue
Tower B-210
Bakersfield, CA 93309

What payment options are available?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover as well as cashier’s checks, money orders and, of course, cash.

What if I fail the course?

This course virtually guarantees that you pass. You may take the quizzes over and over as many times as necessary in order to pass. You may also take the final exam as many times as necessary to pass. There is no additional charge for taking the tests multiple times.

What if I need to change my mailing address or other information?

Most information may be changed by the student using the "My Account" facility. Students may change due dates, billing address, driver's license number etc. If the County or Jurisdiction needs to be changed, please contact our office.

I paid a traffic school fee to the court. Why do I have to pay SaveTimeTrafficSchool.com too?

Courts charge an administrative fee to allow you to attend traffic school. This is separate from your traffic school tuition. We do not receive any compensation from the courts and they receive no compensation from us.

What if I do not have an Email address?

An Email address is not required. However, without an Email address you will not receive automatic notices verifying that we have confirmed your registration or completion of the course, notification from the court or any payment receipts.

What if I do not have access to the Internet?

That would pose somewhat of a problem. Internet access is required. We have had many students take the course at work (with permission), on a friend's computer, or even at a local library. Any Internet access will do.

Where will my certificate be delivered?

In most counties we will deliver your certificate directly to the court. Please check your court for detailed information. Some courts require the student's signature on the certificate, and it is the student's responsibility to either mail or walk the certificate to the court.

Why are there questions in the chapter quizzes that don't have anything to do with traffic safety?

The courts require that we ask "security" questions to ensure that students read the curriculum. These questions are taken from statements embedded in the curriculum. There is 1 security question in each section. The security questions may be asked in courts requiring a 40 question final exam.

Can I take the course on a smartphone or iPad?

Yes. However, the course experience will not be identical across all platforms.
